I t’s depressing that all the reviews, pro or con, of Mel Gibson’s Hacksaw Ridge seem to have felt constrained to mention Mr. Gibson’s various offenses against political correctness and Hacksaw Ridge screamed historical embellishment. I also thought the film was insanely preachy. I get that the film was about a religious man, but it's obviously extremely possible to make a film about a religious person and not make it a preachy film. Silence was about priests and it didn't feel nearly as "GOD IS THE BEST" than Hacksaw Ridge.
